Since it was her birthday, I let her decide what she wanted and she decided to party at the roller rink and have her friends stay overnight. I immediately got on the phone and reserved tables at the local roller rink. Next, came the invitations for all of her closest girl friends. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

When I was searching the web for birthday ideas, I ordered a few other things besides the cookie cutters. Since I was getting by so cheap with this party, I ordered extra gifts from the selection of sweet sixteen favors for her and her friends. I ordered some adorable pink photo albums for all the girls, and disposable cameras for them to take pictures of the party. They all knew about the cameras, so they could take pictures at the roller rink, but they had no clue about the albums I bought for them. They all took a few pictures at the rink and wanted to save some film for the slumber party they were having afterwards.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. Along with that I also bought compact mirrors and manicure sets that matched their bags. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. We left the rink and went home to have her sweet sixteen favor and watch her open her presents. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. After they got tired of dancing to their favorite tunes, they decided to give make overs and manicures to each other. You could tell they were all having a fantastic time.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. That was such a nice thing to ask me to join them. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. Now it was down to just me and my daughter and she didn’t make it very long. Just before she closed her eyes, she let me know how much she appreciated her super birthday party.

The next morning the girls were up before I was and had already had their breakfast and cleaned up from last nights festivities. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to do that for me. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. They told me they had a super time and they thought the sweet sixteen ideas were really cool. So, I guess that makes me a cool mom, hey?
