In the academic year 2025-2026, total 23,062 first year students have enrolled in medical schools. It is 60 more students than last year, an increase of 0.26%.

Of the 23,062 first year medical students, 14,276 students enrolled in public and 8,786 enrolled in private medical schools.
By gender, there are 10,255 men (44.47%) and 12,675 women (54.96%) first year students.
By residency status, 13,752 students (59.63%) were from the state that the school is located in, and 9,310 students (40.37%) were from other state or abroad.
