First Year Medical School Population by Gender and Attending Status

In the academic year 2023-2024, total 22,980 first year students have enrolled in medical schools. It is 262 more students than last year, an increase of 1.15%.

Of the 22,980 first year medical students, 14,197 students enrolled in public and 8,783 enrolled in private medical schools.
By gender, there are 10,180 men (44.30%) and 12,702 women (55.27%) first year students.
By residency status, 13,762 students (59.89%) were from the state that the school is located in, and 9,218 students (40.11%) were from other state or abroad.
